During Christmastime, the Pocono Mountains transform into something straight out of a Hallmark movie. The region boasts small town charm, old-fashioned celebrations and bushels of hospitality. Hawley Winterfest

December 8-10
One of the most popular holiday events in the Poconos, nearly every business rolls out the red carpet to welcome visitors with activities day and night during this celebration. There are over 50 events planned over the course of two weeks.

Here at Silver Birches Breakfast with Santa is always a favorite at The Waterfront.  Browse the offerings at the Holiday Artisans’ Fair at the Hawley Silk Mill on Saturday and Sunday. Glass- wine.bar.kitchen will get Winterfest Rockin’ with live music by John Curtin. Winterfest Brunch at The Settlers Inn is a festive combination of decadent holiday fare and traditional music.

Honesdale Winter Wonderland

November 24 and 25
The town that served as the inspiration for the classic Christmas Carol, “Winter Wonderland,” kicks off the holiday season with a two-day event centered around its idyllic Main Street. Many of the small businesses host open houses and special events on November 25 to coincide with Small Business Saturday. There will also be winter wagon rides, chainsaw carving and blacksmith demonstrations and a visit from Santa Claus. The traditional star and tree lighting will take place on Friday night following the Santa Parade.

Weekends in December
Victorian architecture, strolling carolers in costume, fresh garland decorations- downtown Jim Thorpe transforms into a Dickens village for the celebration. Happening over three weekends in December, festivities include train rides with Santa, specials and events at over 50 shops, galleries and boutiques, free family events and live entertainment. A Christmas Tree lighting in Josiah White Park signals the beginning of the season. Beloved annual events include a gingerbread house display, church tours, Christmas Tree contest and living nativity.

Old Time Christmas at Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm

December 2-3 and 9-10
The customs and traditions of bygone eras come to life over two weekends at this working farm in Stroudsburg. Visit with a Victorian family preparing for an 1890s holiday.
