6 Activities for Social Distancing on Vacation
It’s possible to pack in all the fun you want from a vacation while staying away from the crowds. Lake Wallenpaupack and the Pocono Mountains offer plenty of wide-open spaces and the opportunity to do as much or as little as you like. Here are 6 activities for social distancing on vacation.
Game Time!
Put down the devices and log some board time. Get reacquainted with the classics like Monopoly or Scrabble. Go really old school and brush off the checkerboard or chess set. New Yorker Magazine named Exploding Kittens among the best new board games. The card game has been described as the family friendly version of Cards Against Humanity. The New Yorker also recommended Spot It for its portability. Spot It is another card game, which utilizes observation skills and a time element. You can use your smart phone and download the Heads Up app. It’s like Password for a new generation.
Get Hooked
You can do this activity alone or with a few other people, but the best part is distance is actually required! There’s 52 miles of shoreline on Lake Wallenpaupack so you can spread out and wait for the big catch. The lake is home to Striped and Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Bigmouth Bass and Bluegill. Stretch Out
Calm, de-stressing activities are needed now more than ever. Yoga is a great way unwind and also tone muscles and improve balance. If you practice yoga on a regular basis, you can stretch out your mat at any number of places on the lakeside property for a scenic, serene session. There are weekly yoga classes here at Silver Birches Resort and at our sister properties The Settlers Inn and The Retreat at Millbrook Cove. Book It
There’s no more solitary activity than reading. There are so many spots conducive to curling up with a good book here at Silver Birches Resort. Relax on the porch of your cottage. Make Waves
Feel the freedom of getting out on the water. Kayak, canoe and stand up paddleboard rentals are available at the Recreation Center. Spend some time exploring the lake’s canals, islands and coves. Lake Wallenpaupack has a surface area of 5,700 acres and stretches 13 miles in length so social distancing is a breeze.
Dine Out
Take alfresco dining to a whole new level. Order take out from The Dock on Wallenpaupack and enjoy a meal wherever you choose. Find a secluded spot on the property and enjoy a lakeside picnic here.
